「Half-Life 2」

　VALVEは、Windows用FPS「Half-Life」シリーズや「Counter-Strike」など、高いクオリティのオンラインアクションゲームの開発会社として知られている。EAは今回の提携により、VALVEが開発するゲームを全世界に展開する。

　具体的に挙げられているスケジュールとしては、2005年秋に「Half-Life 2: Game of the Year」と「Counter-Strike: Source」がEAから発売される(日本を含むアジア地域を除く)。さらに、Xbox用「Half-Life 2」が、全世界で10月に発売予定となっている。また契約は複数年とされていることから、今後登場するVALVE開発タイトルについても、EAが販売するものと見られる。

　ちなみに「Half-Life 2: Game of the Year」は、「Half-Life 2」、「Counter-Strike: Source」、「Half-Life 2: Deathmatch」、「Half-Life: Source」が収録されたパッケージ。また「Counter-Strike: Source」には、「Half-Life 2: Deathmatch」と「Day of Defeat: Source」が同梱される。

　VALVE社長のGabe Newell氏はリリース中で、「他者の追従を許さない強固な経営構造と流通網を持つEAと、数々の賞を獲得した実績を持つVALVEが力をあわせることで、世界中のゲームファンに素晴らしいゲームを提供できると確信しています」とコメントしている。
