ド派手なクラッシュシーンも見どころの1つ

　エレクトロニック・アーツ株式会社は、10月20日発売予定のプレイステーション 2用アクションレーシング「バーンアウト リベンジ」の収録曲を発表した。

　「バーンアウト リベンジ」は、危険なドライビングや豪快なクラッシュシーンを追及した公道レースゲーム「バーンアウト」シリーズの最新作。「リベンジ」の名の通り、ライバルカーとのハイスピードで突っ走りながら、相手をクラッシュさせる復讐劇がテーマとなっている。

　収録曲は、世界中のアーティストたちによる、ハードロック、パンク、メタル、オルタネティブ・ロックなど、さまざまなジャンルの音楽を40曲以上。注目は、8月13日、14日に開催されたロックフェスティバル「サマーソニック2005」にも登場したロック・アーティスト「イエローカード」の新曲「Lights And Sounds」で、この曲は音楽シーンに先駆けてゲームでの初公開となる。

　このほかにも、ケミカル・ブラザーズやドアーズなど、日本でも名の知られたアーティストたちの楽曲が収録されている。

　同社のミュージック・マーケティングを統括するスティーブ・シュナー氏はリリースの中で、「Electronic Artsはこれまでにも、ゲームと音楽のコラボを促進するため、新曲をゲーム内で発表する試みを行なってきました。今回も、イエローカードの期待のニューシングルをどこよりも早く『バーンアウト リベンジ』で聴いて頂けることになったのは、非常に嬉しいことです。このゲームの圧倒的なスピード感と迫力に負けないサントラとして厳選された、エネルギッシュな楽曲ラインナップにご期待ください」と述べている。
